ESS provides multi-service capability to major companies and organisations operating in remote sites, gold mines and coal fields. We provide vital workplace support for people working in some of the most isolated terrains in the world, from oil rigs in the North Sea to gold mines in the Australian Outback.

We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Cleaning Manager to provide operational support to our Project Manager and Minesite Cleaning teams.

Support the Project Manager in managing the contract to Compass Group and client standards, delivering high‑quality services, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring compliance, team development, and commercial performance aligned with organisational values and targets.

Roster is 8 days on, 6 days off working 12 hour days.

The Position

  • Act as a positive ambassador for company reward and recognition programs
  • Lead, delegate, and empower team members effectively
  • Manage performance through feedback, coaching, counselling, and disciplinary action in line with a fair and just culture
  • Manage change initiatives effectively
  • Address staff grievances promptly, including bullying, harassment, or intimidation
  • Model high standards of performance, behaviour, and communication
  • Manage employee absences and ensure adequate staffing coverage
  • Apply absence management policies and procedures consistently
  • Provide hands‑on operational support across all service areas
  • Coordinate onboarding, safety training, and site‑specific training programs
  • Develop and deliver structured training aligned to service standards
  • Set up and manage employee system access
  • Ensure operational systems are functional and accessible
  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS), including training completion and compliance reporting
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and WAF requirements
  • Ensure employees are site‑ready and compliant with all requirements
  • Conduct site inductions and safety briefings
  • Approve timesheets and manage leave requests
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing

 

The Person: 

  • Supervisor Certificates - S123 & G2 – with experience as a supervisor or relevant role
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders
  • Be able to pass a Pre-employment medical and Drug and Alcohol Test
