We’re looking for a dynamic, hands-on Head Chef to lead kitchen operations at our high-volume site, catering to over 200 people daily. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality, efficiency, and team leadership.
The Position:
- Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring smooth daily service for a large, high-volume site.
- Lead and support a small team, promoting a positive and efficient work environment.
- Manage and execute a large cook-to-order breakfast menu and retail-ready offerings (sandwiches, salads, snacks).
- Oversee daily prep for large sandwich orders and deliver two hot lunch options daily, including vegetarian choices and sides (e.g. chips, pies, sausage rolls, wing dings).
- Ensure kitchen hygiene and food safety compliance at all times.
- Handle stock control, ordering, and supplier coordination to reduce waste and control costs.
- Support and deliver occasional large-scale functions (up to 1000 people).
- Mentor kitchen staff, encouraging high performance and team morale.
The Person
- Certification III/IV in Commercial Cookery.
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a high-volume catering or café environment.
- Strong leadership and team management, with a focus on efficiency and positive kitchen culture.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Solid understanding of café-style menus, retail food production, and event catering.
- Knowledge of HACCP principles and ability to implement food safety protocols.
- Passion for food, customer satisfaction, and high-quality service.
- Food Safety Supervisor certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Australian Citizen and able to pass a National Police Check (within 3 months).
